Post 7: Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Shigeru Ban is japanese architect, he was born in Tokyo in 1957.He studied on Tokyo University of the Arts, and then he went to study in California in the United States, but despite the fact that most of his education was in the United States he was very influenced and interested in Japanese architecture.

With the time, Ban begins to work with ephemeral architecture making emergency housing when natural disasters happen with unconventional materials like cardboard, paper, plastic, and so on; because construction materials raise their price under these circumstances.

He won the Pritzker Prize in 2014, for his innovative vision towards structure and material.

Some of his projects are: cardboard houses in Kobe (Turkey, 1995),  The Transitional Cathedral in Christchurch (New Zealand, 2013), Takatori Temple in Kobe (Turkey, 1995), and so on, but all of these projects were thought and built after a natural disaster.

What I like most about this architect is his ability to innovate and experiment with materials that aren´t common in buildings. I value his ingenuity and charity towards people who are affected by natural disasters.
